Tooling Tech - Northwood, Iowa
Federal Foam Technologies, an industry leader in custom fabrication of flexible cellular and plastic materials, is currently looking for a Tooling Tech to join our growing team at our Northwood, Iowa facility.
This position is on our 1st Shift and hours are Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm and Friday 6:00 am - 10:00 am.
Summary:
This position ensures that tooling used in manufacturing is available and ready to be used in manufacturing process. This position plans, coordinates, and participates in the maintenance and storage of tooling used in manufacturing.
Job Responsibilities:

Inspects and cleans tooling prior to storage, and performs preventive maintenance as required.

Confers with manufacturing personnel on upcoming tooling requirements, and then pulls and stages required tooling from storage locations in a manner which allows manufacturing to meet production schedules.

Maintains tooling maintenance and storage records.

Prepares new tools for production use.

Locates new production tooling in storage areas, and updates tooling storage records and manufacturing software as required.

Fabricates and maintains tool storage pallets.

Maintains tool maintenance and storage areas.

Participates in the tool removal program and updates maintenance and storage records accordingly.

Reorganizes and rearranges tool storage areas as required to optimize storage capacity, and updates tooling storage records and manufacturing software as required.

Coordinates, through supervisor, tool repairs requiring the attention of outside tooling vendors.

Examines tooling and tool records to determine disposition of tooling.

Participates in the manufacture of tooling produced in-house as required.

Participates in the review of inventory of tooling repair supplies and notifies supervisor when inventory levels are low.
Job Requirements:

One year certificate from College or Technical School; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read prints, work orders & a tape measure

Problem solving skills and attention to detail

Self motivated with strong communication skills

Good attendance track record

Must be able to drive a forklift and have a valid driver's license
