Federal Foam Technologies - Start! Success Story
From the Twin Cities American Heart Association Board of Directors August 2007 Update:
Federal Foam is a small manufacturing company out of New Richmond, WI. With four plants, and one
corporate headquarters, they have about 250 employees. Last summer they participated in the pilot program
of Start! and had almost 50% employee participation. They walked almost 24,000 miles from Memorial Day
to Labor Day. Close to the length of walking the equator around the world. In their second year of participation,
they continue to have high employee engagement, and they have walked almost 35,000 miles in June
and July alone! AHA Heart Walk Director Carrie Monroe attended recent quarterly plant meetings to distribute
Top Walker Prizes. When she distributed t-shirts to these walkers, one of the walkers had lost such significant
weight from walking, that the shirt was far too big. Federal Foam is a perfect example of how any
industry can get their employees enthusiastically engaged and living a more active lifestyle.
Congratulations to them for their commitment to their employees’ health!
